Mozart created his First Flute Concerto in 1778 during a visit to Mannheim, where Christian Cannabich was busy raising its court orchestra into one of Europe’s finest. While there, he fell in love with soprano Aloysia Weber and wrote a series of concert arias for her. Adrian Butterfield’s London Handel Players, with two guest artists, are set to unleash the energy of his youthful compositions.
