Vox Luminis and its inspirational director Lionel Meunier, resident at Wigmore Hall this season, recall the grandeur of Christmas music making in early 18th-century Leipzig. They open with the Magnificat by Bach’s predecessor as Kantor of St Thomas’s Church, placing it in company with the original version of Bach’s Magnificat, written for the composer’s first Christmas in Leipzig.
